Summary - During WWI, the Ottoman Empire which had sided with the Central Powers ruled over vast lands in the Middle East. The Treaty of Versailles gave Great Britain and France control over the region which proceeded to carve out nations that make up Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. Eventually the Balfour Deceleration would help establish the Jewish state of Israel in Palestine. Blog
Assignment - Choose a current conflict in Iraq, Israel/Palestine, Jordan, Syria or Lebanon and discuss how its problems trace back to the end of WWI. Propose a diplomatic (non-violent) solution to solve the problem (example: creating a Palestinian state in Israel along specified boundaries...)
In Iraq there has been many problems since World War One, because France and Great Britain were given the power of how to break it up and make up the borders for it the land. This was a problem because there were three different ethnic groups that were put into Iraq, the Kurds, Shiittes, and Sunnis. They all had different beliefs and they were all put into one place and they called it Iraq, and called them Iraqis. This is still a problem now because they still want their own land because they all have different beliefs and they don't want to live together. If i had the chance to break it up and make up the borders I would give each group there own land and own types of government of what they wanted i would break up the land evenly and fairly and compromise with each group. so that there would be no more conflicts about what happened almost 100 years ago.

Czarist Russia
Assignment - You and your group members have been assigned to one of the segments of Czarist Russia. You will have to blog about your assigned segment of Czarist Russia and describe how they were affected by the Russian Revolution. Please make sure you have all of the requirements necessary. One person of your group will need to create an Animoto slide show about the Russian Revolution.
Russia was really controlled by the nobles in the beginning, but then it was lead by revolutionaries. Intellectuals held meetings in places like cafes and places like tht to talk about how they wanted to modernize Russia. There were two groups of intellectuals, Populists and Marxists. each one was different from the other by the way they went about things. Populists dressed as peasants and told peasants to revolt, and many got arrested. Marxists were more peaceful and thought that everything woould happen when it was intended to happen. Intellectual we usually punished if they tried to bring around change and revolutionaries were usually exiled as well.

Imperialism

Summary - Though colonial empires dated back hundreds of years, the rapid drive for colonies at the end of the nineteenth century led Europe to gain political control of most of Asia and Africa. From 1880-1914 European nations scrambled to divide among themselves the entire continent of Africa, except Liberia and Ethiopia. Once European nations carved up empires, they quickly set up colonial governments to rule them and systems to make them profitable. European imperialism brought modern inventions and techniques of the Industrial Revolution to the non-European world, but to peoples in Africa and Asia Western expansion represented a profoundly disruptive attack on their society.
Blog Assignment - Using your notes on imperialistic motives, write a blog response regarding imperialism and be sure to include the following:
Requirements:
Briefly describe the basic goal of imperialism and identify a specific nation or nations that adopted new imperialism
Describe the effect of the imperialism on another nation or nations and provide specific historical references (example: Boer War on the Zulu nation)
Describe at least three motives using specific details from your notes that Europeans used for imperialism in your response
As Always - Make sure your blog;
1. Has a blog title – Imperialism
2. Add a small photo that somehow represents imperialism
3. Minimum of ten sentences
4. Tag five vocabulary terms from your vocabulary list that relate to Imperialism
5. Proper grammar (capitalization, punctuation, spelling)
The goal for Imperialism was to take over a weak country and use its resources and raw materials they had and use them for your country and make your economy more prosperous. England was definitely a imperialist country, they took over many nations like most of Africa and and the United States. Imperialism had many effects on other nations like the Africa had to change all of their beliefs and their way of life. Also some tried to rebel and then they were taken over with out any choice because England had better technology than any other country. so it was basically like guns versus swords and bow and arrows. Like the Boer wars and the Zulu tribes rebelled against the English. Motives for taking over other countries were the needed more supplies for their country like more raw materials so they could sell items cheaper. Also they wanted the land that they were taking over and so they could also expand everything, like their people, and their way of life.

Industrial Revolution, term usually applied to the social and economic changes that mark the transition from a stable agricultural and commercial society to a modern industrial society relying on complex machinery rather than tools.
It began in Britain because Great Britain had everything that they needed to do i with. They went from people on the farms to work the land to the people that owned the land to make the machines that made it easier to farm the land and that they didn't need as many people to work on the land they only needed people to work the machines.People didn't end up having that much money because they were paid very little because there was no minimum wage. they had kids doing work that was very dangerous and harmful to them at very young ages and got paid very very little. ANd there was nothing they could about it becasue the family needed the money and this was the only way to get the money was to work everyone in the family.

Napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte was a powerful force in Europe from 1799 to 1815. He rose from the ranks of the French army to become the emperor of France. By 1812 he had control of most of Europe. Unfortunately, he met his demise when he attempted to invade Russia. His downfall was almost as swift as his rise to power.
Napoleon had strong leadership because he was a good general in battle. The reason why most people liked him was because he kept alot of loses away from people in Europe. He became a weaker leader later in life.

The French revolution
The French Revolution is defined as the political upheaval of world importance that began in France in 1789. Inspired by the success of the American Revolution, French citizens overthrew the noble, ruling class and establish a democratic government. The French monarchy under Louis XVI was viewed as oppressive and corrupt and the social structure was rigid, meaning it did not allow for social mobility which eventually forced the people to demand change.
I would consider the french revolution a significant change because it went from the goverment a absolute monarchy to a very flexible monarchy. Nepolean gave a people the freedoms that they wante like, freedom of speech and they liked him because he was a very good leader. Also i would consider that the revolution a success becasue people got what they wanted.
King louis XVI was a corrupt person and there was no freedom and thats what they wanted. The people wanted freedoms, they wated social mobility.
